  中國科學院院士、第三世界科學院院士、英國愛丁堡皇家學會外籍院士。

  主要從事景觀生態學和自然地理學研究,在土地利用結構與生態過程、景觀生態學和生態系統服務等方面取得了系統性創新成果。已發表學術論文500余篇,其中SCI收錄論文260余篇,SCI引用7000余次,入選高引用作者,國內引用43000余次(CNKI),出版著作10余部。曾獲國家自然科學二等獎,國家科技進步二等獎、國際景觀生態學會杰出貢獻獎、中國科學院杰出科技成就獎和何梁何利科學與技術進步獎。任Chinese Geographical Science 主編,Landscape Ecology、Landscape and Urban Planning、Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability等刊物編委。
